These QCD donations can be used to fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year, which may decrease your tax burden while furthering The Open Door’s mission.
Gifts of up to $100,000 total from your IRA(s) could potentially be made without being taxed via a QCD donation IRA gift may not be deductible; however, they might increase your ability to make other deductible charitable gifts.
Charitable donations to The Delta Pi Sigma Pi Scholarship through your IRA may limit the increase to your taxable income even if you do not itemize deductions.

Money in our Scholarship(s) is managed by the Foundation and can only be used for student scholarship awards. We, however, get to decide the beneficiary. The amount available for our award is calculated annually by the foundation and is based in part on the amount of money we have in the fund. Selection criteria includes GPA and an Active Brothers standing within the Fraternity.
And since the Bloomsburg University Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization, your donations are tax deductible.
Brothers, we’ve all gained something special from our time in the fraternity - friendships, raucous memories, and a network that lasts a lifetime. Now’s your chance to make it even more meaningful. The Delta Pi Sigma Pi Scholarship Foundation’s sole purpose is awarding of scholarships to contribute to the education of active Delta Pi brothers, alumni in good standing, and family of alumni. We will do this through raising funds and awarding scholarships aimed at enhancing the quality of life for our brotherhood and their families.
What’s the main headline? The DPSPAA has formed a 501c3 nonprofit. A key benefit is it will allow us to administer our own scholarship program. This program is separate and in addition to our current scholarship program with Bloomsburg University Foundation (BUF). This program will include active brothers, dues paying alumni and immediate family of dues paying alumni.
Why are we doing it? Bloomsburg University’s decision to not recognize Greek life is a driving factor. By starting our own scholarship program, we have added flexibility while also diversifying our portfolio beyond BUF. Plus, many alumni expressed a strong desire for us to do this.
When will this happen? We are now actively pursuing contributions to the Foundation. See below on how to contribute.
How is this Organized? The Delta Pi Sigma Pi Scholarship Foundation is administered separately from the DPSP Alumni Association. We have established separate accounts. Our banking is through Wells Fargo and Investments through Fidelity. We have established a separate Paypal account for ease of contributing and will include Zelle at a later time. The foundation has a dedicated board:
Ron Cioffi -President
Bob Snyder- Vice President
Ed Minner -Treasurer.
Will we still offer scholarships via the Bloomsburg University Foundation? Yes, this program will continue. Specifically, for the Delta Pi brotherhood at Bloomsburg University. If you wish to contribute to the BU foundation instead of this please contact us at Dpspscholarship@gmail.com
How will the new scholarship program work? In short, eligible recipients to include active brothers, dues paying alumni, the immediate family of dues-paying alumni to any accredited U.S. post-secondary schools, including technical schools. Upon reaching a suitable amount of funds to offer scholarship, we will provide information, on this page, for the application process as well as eligibility requirements.
Is my donation tax deductible? Your donation will be tax deductible. The foundation is a registered 501C3 organization and you will be provided a receipt for your contribution(s) to use for tax filing purposes.
When can I contribute? NOW! To the right on this page is a link to our dedicated Paypal account as well as a QR code. Note that the Paypal account is registered as a charitable account and has lower fees, but still has a 1.99% transaction fee. We will have access to Zelle in the future for those that have access to that. There are no transaction fees associated with Zelle. If you wish to make a contribution via check or for larger contributions, please contact us at dpspscholarship@gmail.com
In the future we will have information for you to register your Amazon accounts to allow for contributions from Amazon with every transaction you make.
Any questions please contact any of the board members or email at dpspscholarship@gmai.com
We are funding in this way for maximum transparency. We want all contributions to travel a completely transparent path that anyone can follow, and that is completely separate from any other funding options Delta Pi presently utilizes.
